'How to Lose Weight Well'

Anyone watch 'How to Lose Weight Well' last night?

Ahhhh another TV diet program, how wonderful, comparing lots of different diets that we can all do to lose weight...

One thing I did really like was the food chewing experiment, that clearly shows that the more mindful we are about what we are eating the better, letting our hunger signals work properly...

...be present with your food and don't hoover it down!

But as a whole, I was pretty unimpressed with the program, which is usually the case with most TV nutrition programs

The program ended with the final text saying "If you're thinking of going on a crash diet, consult a medical professional first"

Ok, thats good advice, and ethical, but...

How ethical is that advice in the grand scheme of things?

What does that change with diet culture and the obesity epidemic?

I'd ask what the motives are of this program, some small stuff was great, but the overall theme is let's look to lose weight fast and pick a diet, at no point are we concluding or highlighting principals of long term health and fat loss...

How many of the participants in that program are going to continue on those diets long term...

Thats the key question, and if not many, how ethical is this program and its job to help fight the obesity epidemic and get people fit and healthy?
