Who's the better coach?
In the fitness industry we are quick to judge...
In fact, in the real world we are quick to judge others, and in a world where body image is everything, or so we are told, that is where we often make our judgement.
On how someone looks.
We might look at these two guys in the gym and think the lean and muscular guy is the better coach, he knows more as he is bigger and leaner...
Or perhaps it was just HIS personal goal to be big, leaner and have that cover model body?
Does that make the other coach a bad coach cause his personal goal wasn't the same as the other coach?
He might be an even better coach, he might just love running as his thing, or he's a cyclist, or just doesn't really care about 'the' body that we are meant to have.
Perhaps he is happy just being slim and focuses on his health as a goal.
Now one thing I do think a trainer must be is slim, to a degree. A trainer that is carrying too much body fat is either lazy or isn't really into fitness as much as his shirt says it is.
A trainer isn't expected too look like a cover model, but should be slim enough that he is taking care of his health and 'walling the walk'.
Health is just the same, we judge peoples health on the way they look body composition wise.
Now of course having good body composition does lend itself to a healthier body, but not in all areas. You can never tell what is going on under the hood when just looking at someone.
What is their hormonal status, hows their gut functioning, what's their level of liver enzymes, is their blood pressure high, I could go on....
Let's be wary of how we judge someone...
Talk to someone, that's how you understand the knowledge and ability of someone else, by communication...
